How Softicu Hub Trained 750 Learners Through the Federal Government 3MTT Program and Is Building Nigeria’s Digital Workforce

Nigeria’s digital economy is rapidly evolving, and at the center of this transformation is a growing need for skilled, employable, and entrepreneurial digital talent. In response to this national demand, the Federal Government of Nigeria launched the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Program, a bold initiative under the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, with the ambitious goal of generating two million digital jobs by the year 2025.

Softicu Hub is proud to be a key contributor to this national vision. Through our active participation in Cohort 1 and Cohort 2 of the 3MTT Program, Softicu Hub successfully trained 750 learners, equipping them with industry-relevant digital skills, employability competencies, and entrepreneurial capacity needed to thrive in today’s global technology-driven economy.

This achievement reflects not only our technical expertise as a training hub but also our commitment to youth empowerment, workforce development, and sustainable job creation in Nigeria.

Understanding the 3MTT Program and Its National Significance

The 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Program was designed as a strategic response to Nigeria’s youth unemployment challenge and the increasing global demand for digital skills. Spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, the initiative aims to position Nigeria as a competitive digital talent hub by training millions of Nigerians in critical technology skill areas.

The program goes beyond basic digital literacy. It focuses on advanced, in-demand technical skills, practical learning, real-world problem solving, and career readiness. By aligning training with global industry standards, the 3MTT initiative seeks to create a workforce capable of securing local and international opportunities, building startups, and contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic growth.

Softicu Hub’s inclusion as a training partner in both Cohort 1 and Cohort 2 underscores our capacity to deliver high-quality digital skills training at scale.

Softicu Hub’s Role as a 3MTT Training Partner

As a recognized digital innovation and training hub, Softicu Hub was selected to deliver structured training to learners enrolled under the 3MTT Program. Across two cohorts, we trained 750 fellows, providing them with comprehensive instruction, mentorship, and hands-on project experience.

Our approach emphasized:

  • Practical, project-based learning

  • Industry-aligned curriculum delivery

  • Continuous learner support and mentorship

  • Career preparation and entrepreneurship development

By combining technical instruction with real-world application, we ensured that fellows were not only trained but prepared for employment, freelancing, and startup creation.

Digital Skills and Courses Delivered Under the 3MTT Program

Softicu Hub delivered training across multiple high-impact digital skill areas identified by the 3MTT framework as critical to Nigeria’s digital future.

Cyber Security

Cyber security was a core focus area, addressing the growing need for professionals who can protect digital infrastructure, systems, and data. Fellows were trained in foundational and intermediate cyber security concepts, including risk awareness, system protection, and security best practices.

This training positioned participants for entry-level cyber security roles, further certifications, and security-focused career paths in both public and private sectors.

UI/UX Design

The UI/UX Design track focused on user-centered design principles, digital product design, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing. Fellows learned how to design intuitive, accessible, and visually appealing digital products that solve real user problems.

This skillset opened pathways for careers in product design, digital agencies, startups, and freelance design services.

Data Science

Data Science training exposed fellows to data-driven decision-making, analytical thinking, and the use of data to solve complex problems. Learners developed skills in data interpretation, modeling, and analysis, preparing them for roles in analytics, research, and technology-driven industries.

Data Analysis and Visualization

In the Data Analysis and Visualization track, fellows learned how to clean, analyze, and visualize data to generate actionable insights. This skill is increasingly essential across sectors such as finance, healthcare, marketing, and public policy.

Participants gained hands-on experience using tools and techniques that enable effective storytelling with data.

Software Development

The Software Development track trained fellows in programming fundamentals, application development, and problem-solving using modern development practices. Learners built real-world projects, strengthening their portfolios and improving their readiness for junior developer roles, internships, and freelance opportunities.

Excellence Beyond Training: Success at the 3MTT Hackathon

A defining moment in Softicu Hub’s participation in the 3MTT Program was the outstanding performance of our fellows at the 3MTT Hackathon. Competing with teams from across the country, Softicu Hub fellows emerged first and third place winners.

This achievement demonstrated:

  • Strong technical competence

  • Effective teamwork and collaboration

  • Innovation and problem-solving ability

  • The quality of mentorship and training delivered

The hackathon success validated our training methodology and reinforced Softicu Hub’s reputation as a center for digital excellence.

Holistic Development: Technical, Soft, and Employability Skills

Recognizing that technical skills alone are not sufficient for career success, Softicu Hub integrated soft skills, employability skills, and entrepreneurship training into the 3MTT learning experience.

Fellows were trained in:

  • Communication and teamwork

  • Professional ethics and workplace behavior

  • Problem-solving and critical thinking

  • Personal branding and career planning

  • Entrepreneurship and business development

This holistic approach ensured that learners were not only technically competent but also workplace-ready and entrepreneurial in mindset.

The 3MTT Impact Challenge and Learner Empowerment

Through the 3MTT Impact Challenge, many Softicu Hub fellows received valuable learning resources that supported their growth and productivity. Several participants won:

  • Laptops

  • Internet routers

  • Data subscriptions

  • Tablets

These resources reduced barriers to learning and enabled fellows to continue developing their skills beyond the classroom.

Professional Cyber Security Certification Support

One of the most impactful outcomes of the program was the opportunity for fellows to sit for professional cyber security certification examinations. This milestone was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Softicu Hub and the Abia State Government.

Under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti, and with the support of the Abia State Ministry of Digital Economy, led by Commissioner Dr. Matthew Ekwuribe, fellows received comprehensive support that covered:

  • Examination logistics

  • Transportation costs

  • Accommodation throughout the examination period

This intervention removed financial and logistical barriers, enabling learners to earn globally recognized credentials that significantly enhance their employability.

Measurable Outcomes After Each Cohort

At the conclusion of Cohort 1 and Cohort 2, the impact of the training was evident. Many fellows transitioned successfully into the digital workforce through various pathways.

Some fellows:

  • Launched their own startups and digital businesses

  • Began freelancing for local and international clients

  • Secured full-time employment in tech-related roles

  • Obtained internship placements to further build experience

These outcomes align directly with the core objectives of the 3MTT Program—job creation, entrepreneurship, and digital workforce development.

Strengthening Nigeria’s Digital Economy Through Partnerships

The success of Softicu Hub’s participation in the 3MTT Program highlights the importance of public-private collaboration in national development. By working closely with the Federal Government, state governments, and other stakeholders, Softicu Hub has demonstrated how structured training programs can translate into real economic impact.

Our partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy and the Abia State Government reflects a shared commitment to empowering youth and building sustainable digital capacity.

Softicu Hub’s Commitment to Sustainable Youth Empowerment

Youth empowerment remains central to Softicu Hub’s mission. Beyond the 3MTT Program, we continue to invest in digital skills training, innovation, and entrepreneurship development for young Nigerians.
